BROWNSTOWN ? Early in the first quarter of Brownstown Central?s home football game on Friday with North Harrison, defense was the name of the game.

The Braves, however, needed just one big play to get their offense going that put them in the lead for good and they never looked back.

Dylan Patman caught a 38-yard pass from quarterback Clay Brown in the first quarter, and two plays later, Patman put the Braves on top with a 6-yard run.

The Braves finished with six touchdowns in the game and claimed the 42-6 Mid-Southern Conference win over the Cougars.

Braves coach Reed May was a little upset in the first half with his team?s two fumbles, but it was better in the second half.

?For one, they played pretty good defense in the first half,? he said of the Cougars. ?Secondly, two turnovers, as we had a long run in the first half and turned the ball over and had a punt return where we turned the ball over.

?They moved the ball on us a little bit in the first half, and give them credit, they played real well. We didn?t play that well and turned the ball over. At halftime, we figured out what they were doing, and the coaches told me what we could do to turn things around. We were able to throw the ball in the second half, as they were playing a cover 2.?
